New listing
Bee Run Campground is a small but beautiful little campground in central West Virginia, three miles off Interstate 79 at the Flatwoods exit. It features twelve primitive campsites suitable for RVs, travel trailers and tents, and is surrounded by the Elk River Wildlife Management Area, which has several hiking and biking trails to explore. The Sutton Lake Marina and Ship Store is located nearby, along with a picnic area, swimming beach and boat launch ramp. Sutton Lake offers opportunities for motorized boating and water skiing. Most anglers fish for largemouth and smallmouth bass and crappie. Guests can swim at the swimming beach located inside the day use area, and visitors can hike the Jeremiah Carpenter trail, which leads to the Sutton Dam north abutment with wonderful views of the dam. Each campsite has a fire ring, lantern post and picnic table. The campground has a volunteer host, vault toilets and security lighting. The campsites are located at the top of the hill and do not offer a lake view, but each campsite has a wonderful view of the West Virginia hills and wildlife. The lake is in hiking distance for the avid hiker, and there is also plenty of parking for those who want to drive in to the day use area swimming beach and marina. The surrounding area is full of scenic views and history. The historical town of Sutton has cobblestone streets and local shops to explore, and the Bulltown Historic Area and the Flatwoods Outlet Mall are nearby.
