Blackmore Campground

New listing

Blackmore Campground sits in the Custer Gallatin National Forest near Bozeman, Montana, on land managed by the USDA Forest Service. The photos show a close-grown conifer forest of pine and spruce, with a young understory of small trees filling the spaces between the trunks and enough breaks overhead for direct sun to reach the ground in patches. The eleven standard nonelectric sites open off a wide gravel road. Each one photographed has a bare surface of gravel, packed dirt and needle duff, a picnic table, a metal fire ring set at ground level, and a brown steel food-storage locker standing on a concrete pad. Numbered wooden posts carrying an information placard mark the site entrances, and granite boulders are set along the edges where the cleared ground meets the trees. How enclosed a site feels varies across the campground. Some are ringed by trees on every side; others sit at the forest edge and look out over an open grassy meadow. A small wood-sided building stands beside the road near one of the sites.
