Buffalo River State Trail is one of Wisconsin's state trails. The DNR maps 35.7 miles of trail across 4 segments in Buffalo, Eau Claire, Jackson and Trempealeau counties. Uses allowed on at least one segment include hiking and walking, bicycle touring, off-road cycling, and horseback riding. Segment surfaces include limestone screenings & railroad ballast. It is a rail trail. A state trail pass is required. Segments are managed by the Wisconsin DNR. Established in 1976. Mapped by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Bureau of Parks & Recreation Management.
