The Cranberry Mountain Nature Center Group Picnic Shelter is located at the junction of Route 150 and Route 39/55, 16 miles from Marlinton and 22 miles from Richwood, and is a perfect site to plan a family gathering. The shelter can accommodate 50 people, has electricity, and has an accessible pathway from the parking area. Picnic tables, electric receptacles, a pedestal charcoal grill and trash receptacles are all provided. Flush toilets are available when the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center is open; when it is closed, vault toilets at the Cranberry Glades parking area are available. The shelter stands on the grounds of the nature center, which is fun for visitors of all ages and backgrounds, with an exhibit hall, auditorium, events and programs, a native plant garden, a nature trail, and many activities for children. Nature trails, educational displays and scenic views of a northern hardwood forest are close at hand, and the Cranberry Glades botanical area, the Highland Scenic Highway and the Falls of Hills Creek are all a short drive from the picnic shelter.
