Gorge Lake Campground

Hosted by National Park Service

New listing

Gorge Lake Campground is a small, primitive campground with 8 sites, set on a steep bank overlooking Gorge Lake. The sites are small and do not accommodate large RVs or trailers. This is a primitive camp with no water or services: bring water and pack out all trash. Vault toilets are provided. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring, and some sites have tent pads. Gathering firewood is prohibited; firewood is available outside the park. An accessible boat launch and small dock sit at the lower end of the campground. The launch is not recommended for large powerboats but is ideal for canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, and small power boats. Fishing is allowed in Gorge Lake with a Washington State fishing license, following state regulations; the nearest place to buy one is the town of Marblemount. Hiking and other recreation can be found across the park. Black bears are active in this campground and on the surrounding trails, so be aware of your surroundings while hiking, picnicking, and camping, and use the provided bear boxes to store coolers, cookware, and other odorants when not in use. If you encounter a bear, inform campground staff or fill out a bear report at the North Cascades Visitor Center. The campground is minimally forested with surrounding views of Gorge Lake. At an elevation of 900 feet it experiences bouts of powerful winds from the Fraser Valley Outflow. Traveling west on State Route 20, the North Cascades Visitor Center is 7.5 miles (12 km) away and operates seasonally, typically May to September, with passport stamps, exhibits, the park film, and a park store. Traveling east, Diablo Lake Overlook is 6.5 miles (10 km) out with ample day-use parking and vault toilets, and Ross Lake Overlook is 10 miles (16 km) out, a less developed vista with two pull-off areas, interpretive waysides, and views of Ross Dam and Ross Lake.
