Hanging Dog

Hanging Dog is a public boating access area and public fishing area on Hiwassee Lake in Murphy, North Carolina. As a public boating access area it has 2 launch lanes, 1 floating dock, a fishing pier, shallow-draft vessel access, non-motorized access, 44 trailer parking spaces, 14 non-trailer parking spaces, paved parking, a restroom, an information kiosk, trash cans and lighting. As a public fishing area it has 1 fixed fishing pier, a boat ramp, portable boat access, 20 trailer parking spaces, unpaved parking, a restroom, a picnic area, an information kiosk, trash cans and lighting. Accessible features: a paved walkway, dock handrails, 1 accessible trailer parking space and 1 accessible non-trailer parking space. The site is owned by US Forest Service. STEEP GRADE (GREATER THAN 2%). RAMP CLOSES PERIODICLY IN DURING LOW LAKE LEVELS. NOT ADA YET. USFS IS WORKING ON IT. Listed by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.
