Hickory Ridge Recreation Area is a day use area on the north side of Enid Dam, popular among visitors interested in swimming, playing basketball and enjoying a family picnic. There are 38 individual picnic sites that include a grill, a serve table and a picnic table, and two group picnic shelters with scenic views of Enid Lake: one near the playground and a comfort station, the other by the shower house overlooking the lake and beach area. Other facilities include an accessible shower house with flush toilets, two comfort stations with flush toilets, a beach with outdoor showers, two life jacket loaner boards, a basketball court and two playgrounds. The amphitheater seats up to 150 individuals and is ideal for weddings, special events and programs, with a covered stage area, rows of benches for attendees and security lights. There is a view of the lake from the pavilions, picnic sites and amphitheater, all nestled among towering native pine and oak trees. The surrounding woods provide habitat for squirrels, raccoons, chipmunks, deer, butterflies and a variety of birds. The area is off Interstate 55 and easily accessible. The nearby towns of Water Valley and Batesville, Mississippi offer shopping, hotels, restaurants and emergency care facilities if needed. Nearby recreation areas on Enid Lake offer access to the lake for boating and fishing.
