Little Pines Campground

Hosted by USDA Forest Service

New listing

The Little Pines Recreation Area is one of the most recently upgraded and constructed recreation areas on the Ouachita National Forest. Built in a former pine plantation in the valley of Poteau Mountain and surrounded by the Ouachita Mountains, all the campsites are level and offer a large amount of shade throughout the day. A camp host is on duty to provide assistance and answer questions about the area and the activities available on the forest. The campground sits along the shoreline of Lake Hinkle, a 960-acre lake managed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, reached by the boat ramp adjacent to the campground. A short hiking trail is located at the day use area, and within a few miles there are mountain bike, hiking and OHV trails available for use. There are 9 single campsites, all back-in, with no pull-through campsites available. The campground has flush toilets, showers and paved parking areas, and every campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, lantern holder and electrical and water connections. Courtesy docks are available for boat moorage while staying at the campground, and a large pavilion and swim site are located adjacent to it. There is a trailer dump station for campers, a boat ramp with a courtesy dock and fishing pier for launching and retrieving boats, and a fish cleaning station located next to the ramp. Located just 12 miles west of Waldron, Arkansas, it is a short drive to obtain needed items for camping and groceries; Waldron also provides medical services and restaurants, along with the Scott County Museum of History. The Ouachita National Recreation Trail, the Belle Star OHV Trail and the Fourche Mountain OHV Trail are all in the area.
