McFarland Campground

Hosted by Bureau of Land Management

New listing

McFarland Campground offers 9 campsites for both RVs and tent camping along the Lemhi River. Potable water, vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, and ample shade are available. The campsites are adjacent to the river, and the campground provides public river access for fishing. The Lemhi Valley lies between the Beaverhead Mountains and the Lemhi Range, where the river creates a lush riparian zone lined with willows in an otherwise arid region. Both ranges rise above the Lemhi River on either side of the valley, creating a stunning backdrop. Area roads lead into the Beaverhead and Lemhi Ranges, and the surrounding country offers a multitude of recreation opportunities including motorized and non-motorized trails, hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing. The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail runs along the top of the Beaverhead Mountains to the east of the campground and provides single-day or multi-day hiking opportunities. Tarpon's Roost Shelter is also nearby.
