The campground is in close proximity to launch sites along the Clark Fork River, including the Alberton Gorge, and can accommodate large groups recreating on the river or in the National Forest. It is within walking distance from the Clark Fork River and has a self-guided nature trail. Quartz Flat is one of three campgrounds located along Interstate 90 between Idaho and Missoula. Each of the three paved loops has vault toilets, potable water, a Camp Host, and trash services. Loop C and Loop G have dump stations and flush toilets. Each site has a parking space, picnic table, and fire ring, and there are 6 pull-through sites in Loop A for vehicles larger than 35 feet in length. Reservable sites are all the even numbered sites in Loops A and G, and sites 1 through 12 in Loop C; all remaining sites are first-come, first-served. The campground resides in the valley bottom surrounded by pine trees, with the Clark Fork River to the north. It is flat and easily accessible from Interstate 90. Missoula is 50 miles to the east and Alberton Gorge 11 miles east; Superior is 10 miles to the west, St. Regis 25 miles, the Route of the Hiawatha Trail 53 miles, and Lookout Ski Area in Idaho 58 miles to the west.
