Perched on the scenic western shores of Waco Lake, Reynolds Creek is a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you are looking for a relaxing stroll or a rugged trek, the park serves as the perfect launchpad. For trail enthusiasts, the park provides direct access to the Lacy Point Trail System. This expansive, 20-mile multi-use trail cuts through open grasslands and wooded shorelines, offering breathtaking views of the water, and is highly popular with local mountain bikers, bird watchers and horseback riders. As the premier equestrian park on Waco Lake, Reynolds Creek also features 10 camping sites for those who bring their horses with them, each with water and electric hookups, a covered pavilion nearby, and two covered horse pens — a beloved and highly active gathering spot for the regional riding community. Beyond the trails, an on-site playground near the day-use area gives kids a dedicated space to play. On the water, boaters, kayakers and anglers can launch from the park's concrete boat ramp. The shoreline, characterized by submerged timber that serves as natural habitat for fish, is a favorite spot for anglers targeting largemouth bass, crappie and catfish, and lakeside picnic tables offer the perfect place to relax, enjoy a lunch, fish and watch the boats go by. Reynolds Creek features 51 campsites tailored for RVs and/or tents, 10 of them for equestrian travelers. Campground sites are open seasonally from April 1 to September 30, while equestrian sites remain open year-round. The equestrian loop (sites E01-E10) has electric and water hookups and covered horse stalls; standard RV and tent sites (9-43) are 35 spacious sites with electric and water hookups; and tent sites (44-49) are 6 rustic, water-only sites with no electricity, on the northern peninsula. The park also has central restrooms with showers, an RV dump station, a playground, lakeside picnic tables in the day-use areas and a boat ramp. Located entirely within the city limits of Waco, Texas, Waco Lake is a vibrant aquatic ecosystem shaped by its geography. The reservoir was formed in 1963 with the completion of the Waco Lake Dam, designed to tame and store the waters of the Bosque River, which feeds it on its 115-mile journey through central Texas. Along the scenic shoreline, dense pockets of Ashe juniper, cedar elm and majestic live oaks provide vital nesting habitat for migratory birds and native wildlife. Beneath the surface of its 79,000 acre-feet of water, a diverse aquatic habitat thrives, supporting largemouth bass, crappie and channel catfish sustained by a healthy network of rocky shorelines and submerged timber. Just upstream, the 180-acre Waco Lake Wetlands preserve is a haven for birdwatchers, with a floating boardwalk where you can spot native reptiles, mammals and over 130 species of birds.
