Rocky Branch Seasonal Campground (SC)

Rocky Branch Seasonal Campground is located in the southeastern corner of the Enoree Ranger District of the Sumter National Forest, in Fairfield County. The Broad River flows a couple of miles west of the area. The campground is situated on hilly terrain in a dense pine forest at an elevation of approximately 500 feet. Long hot summers and mild winters are the norm here: early winter temperatures range from the low 40s to the upper 60s and summer temperatures from the high 80s to the high 90s. Rocky Branch is a seasonal hunt camp, open mid-September through early January for big game deer season and the month of April for spring turkey season. Wild turkey and deer can be found in the area, and it also offers opportunities for wildlife viewing and appreciation of the Piedmont forest and scenery. The camp is a primitive setting with one campground loop; the road is flat and graveled and easily traveled. There are ten campsites, each a shady grassy area with a rock fire ring. Many sites will only accommodate smaller camper trailers or tents. The campground doesn't provide picnic tables, electricity or wifi, cell coverage is sporadic, and there are no hookups. A minimum of one person and a maximum of eight are allowed per site, with at most two vehicles plus two campers, or two tents, or one camper and one tent, if the site will accommodate them; many sites will only take one vehicle with one camper. Golf carts are not allowed. Rocky Branch is surrounded by forest and hilly terrain in the piedmont of South Carolina. The creek that gives the campground its name flows south of the campground, parallel to Rocky Creek to the north; both creeks merge and flow into the Broad River west of the campground.
