Sand Flat
Hosted by USDA Forest Service
New listing
Sand Flat is in the Eldorado National Forest near Kyburz, California, managed by the USDA Forest Service. The photos show mixed forest of tall pines, cedars and broadleaf trees on sloping ground, with dry grass, needle duff and pine cones underfoot and granite boulders and weathered fallen logs scattered through the camping area. The sites shown are wide, level pads of packed dirt and gravel opening straight off the road, each with a picnic table, a metal fire ring or grill on a post, and a low numbered wooden marker. Shade is dappled rather than deep — the canopy breaks up over the pads, and much of the open ground sits in direct sun. Neighbouring sites, and vehicles parked at them, are visible across that open ground from several of the pads. There are 24 standard nonelectric sites and 6 walk-to sites.
