Skookum Creek Campground

Skookum Creek Campground sits under tall second-growth conifers in the Willamette National Forest, near Oakridge, Oregon. The camping area is open forest floor of packed dirt and needle duff, with cut stumps and fallen logs lying between the trunks and very little understory. Sites are furnished simply: a wooden picnic table and a low metal fire ring, set back from the loop under continuous overhead shade broken by patches of filtered light. A creek runs through the woods beside the campground, dropping in short whitewater chutes between moss-covered boulders and slack green pools. A wooden footbridge with a peeled-log railing crosses it, reached from the bank through young firs and low leafy brush. The entrance is a gravel clearing with a pair of shingled wooden information kiosks holding posted notices, and a trash post at the edge of the drive. This is a USDA Forest Service campground with one standard nonelectric site listed.
