Strawberry Recreation Site is located approximately 5 miles south of Lead and Deadwood, South Dakota. It offers a tranquil respite right off of Highway 385, with five camping sites and two picnic areas overlooking a gorgeous pond, nestled into the surrounding tree-blanketed landscape. This first-come, first-served area features a small pond with a paved accessible walkway and fishing platforms, making it ideal for bird watching and quiet afternoons. Fishing and nature watching are the primary recreation opportunities here, and the areas south and east of the recreation area are extremely popular destinations for OHV riders. Deadwood and Lead are only about 5 miles away, offering an assortment of entertainment options, museums and restaurants.
