New experience

A permit for hiking Angels Landing in Zion National Park, covering hikes from September 1 through November 30, on a route administered by the National Park Service. The photographs look up at the canyon's sheer sandstone walls, streaked dark with desert varnish and capped by pale white rock, with trees in yellow leaf standing in front of them. A red dirt path runs along the canyon floor past bare-branched trees toward the monolith. Higher on the route the trail narrows to a rock spine with a chain fixed into the sandstone to hold, and the view opens down the canyon over switchbacks, forest and the river below.
