New experience

Boat docking at Michigan Island, within Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, managed by the National Park Service. The dock is a long, low pier running straight out from the shore into open water, its deck edged with timber posts. It begins on a beach of reddish sand strewn with boulders and driftwood. In the photograph an enclosed-cabin motorboat is tied alongside the pier and a sailboat is moored off the end, with a low wooded shoreline running along the far side of the water.
