New experience
The Chewalla Lake area lies in the National Forests in Mississippi, on a lake edged with marsh grass and low woods. A paved ramp runs down into the water, and a routed sign at the top of it points along a lakeshore trail. An open-sided picnic shelter stands back among the trees, built on brick piers under a shingled roof with a skylight, with a bench inside and a trash can at one corner. The ground around it is covered in fallen leaves and patches of moss, shaded by hardwoods and scattered pines.
