Grand Teton National Park Backcountry Permits
Hosted by National Park Service
New experience
Backcountry permits for Grand Teton National Park, administered by the National Park Service. The photographs follow trails from the valley floor into the high country: a dirt singletrack crossing open green meadows and low wildflowers toward the jagged Teton crest, a forested valley path climbing beneath granite walls streaked with snow, and a traverse over dark scree above a small tarn still holding pans of ice. Another looks down a boulder slope from high on a peak to the flat valley and its lakes far below. Lower ground shows a different face. Conifers and cottonwoods line a slow river bend that mirrors the range, grassy banks run down to still water, and a canoe rests on a calm lake beneath forested slopes. Snowfields, talus, alpine tundra and pale cliff bands all appear along the way.
