New experience

Spanning 27,000 acres from Sandy Hook in New Jersey to Breezy Point in New York City, Gateway is both the gateway from the ocean into New York Harbor and the gateway to the National Park Service for millions of visitors every year. It offers green spaces and beaches alongside historic structures and cultural landscapes, open every day for you to explore, envision and enjoy. Jacob Riis Park was designed by New York City as a park in 1912, and its famous bathhouse was built in 1932. Jacob Riis Park became part of the National Park Service when Gateway was established in 1972. Lifeguards are on duty at this swimming beach daily between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day, from 10 am to 6 pm.
