Olympic National Park Wilderness Permit
Hosted by National Park Service
New experience
A wilderness permit for Olympic National Park, in Port Angeles, Washington, administered by the National Park Service. The photos range across the park's backcountry terrain. Several show high country: long ridgelines streaked with snow above dark subalpine fir, a broad snowfield and glacier ice spilling below bare rock summits, and a rocky basin with snow patches sitting above green slopes. Others look lower, into forest and meadow, with a footpath winding through gold grass and low red-tinged groundcover toward a wall of tall conifers, and a ridge catching late light above a dark timbered valley. Water and small detail appear too: a green mountain lake reflecting the conifers and scree slopes around it, a gravel shoreline at its edge, pink wildflowers in an open meadow below a snow-patched peak, and a weathered plank boardwalk with moss and small red-tinged plants crowding its edge.
