New experience

A bus tour experience at Pearl Harbor National Memorial, managed by the National Park Service. On the grounds, a paved shoreline plaza of low white walls is reached by broad steps, with palms, rock plantings and a flagpole standing above the water. The rusted hull of a sunken ship breaks the surface just offshore, and ridgelines run across the harbor in the distance. From the air, that same wreck and the white memorial platform beside it sit among piers, lawn and open water. Elsewhere on the grounds stands the USS Oklahoma memorial: a long black wall lettered with the ship's name, backed by a ranked row of white marble posts on a lawn, a flagpole at the center and broad shade trees behind.
