New experience

Presidio Picnic Place is a picnic venue in the Presidio of San Francisco, managed by the Presidio Trust. An aerial photo of the surrounding ground shows flat, mostly open terrain between a long low building with a red tile roof and the shoreline: gravel and paved footpaths curve across it in wide loops, a large mown lawn sits at one end, and beyond the road are a tidal lagoon, a broad sand beach and open water. A site map lays out the picnic area itself as a paved pad holding nine numbered tables with seven grills set among them. Lawn and a path border it on the meadow side, Building 201 and Halleck Street run along the other, and restrooms are marked in two directions, each a two to three minute walk away.
