Sequoia & Kings Canyon Wilderness Permits

A wilderness permit for the backcountry of Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, managed by the National Park Service and based at Three Rivers, California. The two photographs show different ground. One looks out from a high, open bench of fractured grey granite, a shallow lake set into the rock and range after range fading into haze beyond it. The other looks up a deep glacial canyon: steep pale walls on both sides, conifers rooted along the benches and gullies between them, and angular blocks of granite littering the slope in the foreground.
