Sweetwater Cabin

Sweetwater Cabin sits in the National Forests in Florida, managed by the USDA Forest Service. The single-story cabin is clad in brown wood siding under a shingled roof, with a stone chimney, a large screened porch across one end, and a paved walk and lawn at the front. Inside, one room is paneled floor to ceiling in dark wood around a rough stone fireplace and furnished with a long dining table and chairs, a dresser and a sofa on a tiled floor. The kitchen is white-walled with an electric range, a refrigerator, a double sink and counter space; a separate photograph lays out the pots, pans, baking trays and mixing bowls. A bunk room with wood walls and a wood plank floor holds several wooden bunk beds. A wooden boardwalk and railed deck lead out over a spring-fed pool that runs clear green to deep turquoise at its center, ringed by live oaks, cabbage palms and saw palmetto. A posted notice at the boardwalk states that alligators are common in the area and should not be approached.
