Visitor Center Skies of Pearl Harbor Tour
Hosted by National Park Service
New experience
A virtual reality program at the Pearl Harbor visitor center in Hawaii, one of the offerings of the Pearl Harbor Narrated Multimedia Tours & Virtual Reality Center. Its computer-generated scenes are shown from the air: the view from inside an aircraft cockpit, canopy framing and instrument dials in the foreground, looking down on a harbor, its channels and the ridged green-and-brown island around it. Other scenes place the viewer over a carrier flight deck of planked timber lined with green aircraft marked by red discs, and low across the water alongside moored ships, with columns of dark smoke rising from the shore. The program is watched from an outdoor viewing deck under the visitor center's louvered canopy — a railed platform of composite decking set with rows of swivel stands, each holding a headset, with a large angled screen at one end and the harbor and palms in view past the railing.
